Beth, a Donor
Beth is a Friend of the SVP, making a regular contribution to support our work.
Inspired by her local SVP, Beth describes why she supports the national charity
“From what I have heard and seen of the SVP working in my own parish over the years, I believe it to consist of ordinary parishioners who are willing to give their time, company and talents to help other ordinary people who are in need or who are going through particularly difficult times in their lives. We all experience loneliness, unhappiness, financial difficulties due to sickness, bereavement, relationship breakdown at some point in our lives and some are not as well equipped to deal with such a crisis as others. When people are at their lowest ebb and have nowhere else to turn organisations such as SVP are a lifeline. From providing Christmas presents for children, a fridge or a washing machine to keep a family home running, to bringing soup and sandwiches to homeless people, the SVP follow the words of the Gospel "When I was hungry you gave me to eat, when I was thirsty you gave me to drink, when I was naked you clothed me", helping anyone in need, regardless of religion or race. I thank God for the privilege of being associated with such good work.”
