This lent we want to raise awareness of the issue many refugees face, and the risk they face of becoming homeless.
Help us call on the Government to give more time to newly recognised refugees to find accommodation and avoid homelessness.
Receiving refugee status should be good news. After waiting many months and sometimes years, people who receive refugee status have a limited amount of time to find their own accommodation, or they might find themselves homeless.
Many of our volunteer members have told us about the harrowing stories of people who are given 7-days to find their own accommodation, and as a result are finding themselves homeless and with nowhere to go.
But there is some good news!
Recently the Government extended the amount of time people have to find accommodation to 56 days.
However, they only extended this period until June 2025, after which the length of time people have could go back to only 28 or even 7 days.
We have created a range of resources which are available for everyone to use to take action now to show the Government how important and valuable it would be to make the extension permanent.
